They say that...

the camera never lies ...
but yet in my photograph this building appears slanted backwards, a la l
eaning tower of Pisa. In reality though and to the human eye it stands perfectly straight! It has all to do with my camera's lens, the angle, etc... The human eye is an amazing invention and will see it as it is. My friend Maja , who is a brilliant photographer (and btw produces her own unique fashion accessories & hair bands) can explain it all!
Still, whichever way you look at it I think it's a really beautiful building - formerly offices of CIE, the national transport agency, but now looking rather delerlict and lonely on North Wall Quay.

The New National Convention Centre ...

On the other hand - the new National Convention Centre, also on North Wall Quay looks distinctly 'lop-sided'. But in this case the camera is NOT lying - it really does look like that!

The Brocante Sunday Market, Newmarket Square

I stumbled upon the Brocante Market quite by accident as I was strolling through the Liberties/Blackpits area of Dublin 8. It is an indoor market situated in Newmarket Square (which incidentally is not a Square or is even square shaped) and is actually very inconspicious from the outside. The market is a mix of old and antique furniture, bric-a-brac, collectables, a restaurant & coffee shop, organic food, etc. Old vinyl records, 1970's comics - it's all there!
I bought a map of Ireland for 50 cents which shows the 32 counties in different colours(colors). It was torn in the middle and a previous geographist had pencilled in train journey times to various provincial towns. Still - for 50 cents! The vendor said 'It's a bit damp, but you can dry it at the fire tonight'.

p.s. Brocante comes from the French word for Flea Market
