Súil Eile

Wednesday, 28 March 2012

This ruin is all that remains of a monastic church. It, and the graveyard date back to the 12th century. It was a Cistercian foundation from St. Mary's Abbey, Dublin. The parish of Dowdstown and Philpotstown was centered here. The last burial here took place on 10th March 1965.
