Slattery's Pub in Capel Street was once one of Dublin's premier music venues. I remember going there many years ago after I moved to the city and it was standing-room only. It probably needed a lick of paint, the walls were yellow with age, there were a few cobwebs and a smell of beer... but the music was good, the pint was great and the "craic" was mighty.
Then a new owner bought it (for millions), ripped out the interior completely, refurbished it (more millions) and now it's ... well, just another Dublin pub!
