Dublin city centre was packed today with thousands of spectators for the annual Saint Patrick's Festival Parade. The theme of this year's event was "Extraordinary World" and the parade featured street theatre, artists, giant puppetry, dancers and marching bands from Ireland and across the globe including from the United States and Austria. The weather was actually kind and there was a carnival atmosphere and yes the colour green was much in evidence even among ethnic groups.
I wish you all a Happy Saint Patrick's day wherever you may be.

It looks like I'm missing a huge party! Happy St. Patrick's Day to you.
It's certainly grown a bit over the years! Is that a shamrock leaf I see on the lamp-posts?I've never noticed before.
That IS a shamrock on the lamp-post Sheila! I never noticed it before either. Tomorrow I will be scouring the city looking for shamrocks up lamp-posts and as I am going to join the party in Temple Bar now the Guinness should help!
What a lovely day you must have had! Great pictures- and the weather looks to have been perfect.
I miss the Guinness- the cans, they just aren't the same.
Gosh I wish I'd been there. Remember me to Temple Bar. We had marches here but I didn't get a chance to watch them on television. I put a story on A Mixed Bag connected to St Patrick's Day.
