Potatoes are a major food crop in East Donegal. Today my job brought me there and they are growing majestically. Normally I am not an expert on potatoes (I do love them - got that from my Granny) but today as I took this photo I realized I was actually outstanding in the field(of potatoes).
Ouch!
Talking about potatoes... I just noticed there are lots of food/recipe blogs out there, especially from Eastern Europe, one of my favourite's being majmilys...

This is a gorgeous shot! Better to be an expert on a hearty nutritious food then say....hangnails (ouch) Besides the history of potatoes is fascinating too! although I only know the French portion of it.. I was actualLy thinking about posting about Parmentier and the potato blossoms he gave to Marie Antoinette!
Actually the blossoms are wonderful Marie.(make mental note to photo them later). We have to be thankful to Parmentier, without him we'd all be living on rice!
In Ireland Sir Walter Raleigh (English explorer) is credited with bringing the potato here from Brazil. Must start Googling...
