Well, not for more than a hundred years anyway!
There is a small park in front of the King's Inn's building near where I live and there are some beautiful mature trees growing there. But beware - I think they are carnivorous (meat-eating). Certainly the one in my photo collage is devouring the cast iron bench in front of it - and that's just for starters). It has probably taken decades - maybe even a century for the tree to "gobble" up the bench, but year after year it eats away at it.
There are many species of "meat-eating" plants which attract and then trap their prey as I learned from my good friend Protege's blog (Dangerous Beauties - Jan 11, 2010) - but a vampire TREE?
You don't see that everyday!

Ah, this made me laugh! Yes, yes, what an intersting spieces, devouring an iron bench. Hmm, what an extraoordinary digestion system this tree must harbour. Hehe.;) In case the bench contained wood as well, it can also be considered a cannibalistic tree.;)
Thank you so much for the link and the mention.;)
Have a lovely weekend dear friend,

Well, did you hear about those fairy trees which break the saws which try to cut them? They'd give you the creeps, so they would....
Intriguing and fascinating. Who would have thought a tree could devour a bench. Loved this collage.
