The Dublin Mountains

Today, I went up to the Dublin mountains, well they're not really mountains - just hills, but Dublin people call them mountains (a bit like the Hugh Grant movie "The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down A Mountain"). It's beautiful and peaceful up there, with just sheep for company and you can look down on the city below. You can also pick and eat blackberries...

Continuing my look at different types of housing I visited the Phoenix Park to photo the lovely little gate lodges at the various entrances. The small cottage above at the Parkgate entrance is dwarfed by the new Courts building.

I am still singing the praises of Praha(Prague) to anyone who cares to listen - what a wonderful city. It's known as "the city of a thousand spires" and you can see some of them in this colourful postcard.

The Trams of Praha (Prague)

Praha has the most fantastic Tram system. Most of the Trams are old, but they are reliable, fast, cheap, very regular and widely used. Because they are so popular they can be very crowded and they are a bit bumpy but they are an efficient means of transport nonetheless. And just as I like old cars I immediately fell in love with Praha's Trams.
There is also in Praha a very good Metro (underground) which is used extensively, but for me the Tram is King.

Puppets are big in Czech Republic! There are puppets shops everwhere. Now I am thinking the puppeteer I saw performing in Henry Street in March was probably Czech(or Slovak).
